Artist's Commentsthis was started to participate in a contest hosted by =JurgenDoe, but i missed the deadline... oh well! so i decided to go ahead, once the reference was a bit challenging and i really wanted to do a straight celebrity portrait, which i haven't done for ages (well, i guess i haven't done nothing for ages, hehe) anyway, here is Kate Beckinsale, in a black and white vector. i was really tempted to play with variations to add a slight coloring after have exported the vector to .png, but this way it would turn it into a vexel?, so i decided to keep my original intention. hope you like it. *edit: corrected a little mistake in the iris + added watermark =/ --- reference. ¡Increhible!
El iris esta... exelentemente perfecto (o perfectamente exelente).
D.
Also, if you're working in Illustrator CS or above, here's a tip on adding color/hue to an overall image (may be a similar method in CorelDraw, but I'm not sure):
Make a new layer above all of the other layers containing the image. On your new, blank layer, make a shape (square or rectangle) that goes over the entire image. Make it any color you like. Set the shape to "color" or "hue" (both have different effects - I prefer "color") in the "transparency" box (I think that's what it's called, cant' recall off the top of my head). You'll see that it effects the whole image in a similar way it would in Photoshop, but without having to categorize it as a vexel. Play with the opacity and change the color of the shape as needed until you get a desired effect. I do this all the time to my illustrations to give them that last bit of oomph they might need.
Regardless, though, I recommend you don't colorize this one in any way. I think it's just amazing in grayscale. I'm truly blown away!
